Cinque Terre

This weekend I decided to take a few days and head to Cinque Terre. I had been there twice before, but I felt like I needed to go alone and really explore all five towns. While previously I had been to Vernazza and Riomaggiore, I had always wanted to see Monterosso and also Cornigilia. I stayed at a cute little hotel in Monterossa, Stella Della Marina. Gabriel the host was wonderful and they have a beautiful restaurant on the roof for breakfast with a great view of the ocean.

The first day I decided to hike the trail from Monterosso to Vernazza. The hike took 1 1/2 hours and was extremely difficult. It definitely is not for the faint of heart. with many stops to catch my breath, i made it and celebrated with a lemoncello spritz.

The views from the hike and the town of Vernazza were incredible.

The next day I took a boat from Monterosso to Riomaggiore. From there I hiked the trail to Manarola.

While hiking the trail on the first day, I had dropped my wallet. fortunately it was found by an honest german tourist who sent me an email found on my business card. On the final day i went to meet her at corniglia. the steps to get from the train to the town of corniglia was crazy! 375 steps. after getting my wallet, i walked the town, did some shopping and had a delicious sandwich. after all the hiking and steps, my legs were done!!! Time to get home to lucca. 1 1/2 by train and i was home.
